This litter was born on January 14th, 2001. Mom was Yancey, Can.Ch.Madigan's Baby Grand, and dad was Biff, Britannia Back To The Future. There were 7 puppies, 3 boys and 4 girls. This was a long awaited and much anticipated litter. We had been enduring a 'drought' of sorts, as it had been more than 2 1/2 years since our previous litter, though it wasn't for lack of trying! Yancey had been bred once before and had missed, and a second attempt saw her go out of season promptly on arrival at the stud dog's home, so needless to say we didn't get a breeding. Both times my mother had driven her down to be bred, and she was clearly not happy at being away from home, or more accurately, away from ME (I stayed home to look after the rest of the crew). She's a momma's girl! 

So, since it appeared that stress was the main factor in her not getting pregnant, we decided to try a chilled semen breeding this time so she could stay comfortably at home. Throughout the trips to the vet and all the poking and prodding she remained perfectly content and stress-free, and the insemination went off without a hitch (well ok there were a few hitches, like the precious cargo initially getting lost at the airport, but all worked out in the end!). We were ecstatic several weeks later when an ultrasound revealed she was definitely pregnant, and on a pleasant Sunday afternoon in January the little bundles of joy made their way into the world. 

Yancey proved to be an outstanding mother, and I have to say this was one of the nicest litters we've had in terms of quality. There were several lovely puppies that I would be proud to see in the show ring. 

We kept the nicest puppy, a beautiful black female we've named 'Danni', and have high hopes for her in the show ring. She's already done very well. We're also having great fun with her in agility classes, which we started when she was just 15 weeks old. We also co-own a black male from the litter and he is also being shown. 'Duncan' lives nearby with another of our Beardies, actually his uncle 'Rascal' - Ch.Madigan's Temptation. The other pups in this litter have all gone to wondeful homes where we hope they will bring their owners many years of companionship and joy.
