Wyndian Canine Art focuses primarily on outdoor scenes featuring dogs, painted in acrylics on a variety of wood items, which make wonderful gifts or dog show trophies. As well, more traditional 'fine art' paintings in acrylic, oils, gouache, watercolour, or ink, on masonite (hardboard), paper, or canvas are also avaiable.

"Wyndian" is me, Diane Wynen. I have always been creative, dabbling in a variety of mediums from an early age. About 15 years ago I began painting dogs, a perfect combination of my two loves - dogs and art. Along the way I've also painted a few cats, some sheep, and even a goat and chicken! I figured out recently that I have now painted more than 100 different dog breeds. I started out painting primarily in acrylics on wood, on a wide variety of items from jewellery boxes to salt and pepper shakers to clocks, leash holders and pencil cups, and these still make up the bulk of my work today. These items are very popular as trophies for national and regional breed specialties and booster/supported entry shows. Pictures of some of these can be found on the pages linked below. Some of the clubs I have done trophies for include:

Prices for my
work range dramatically depending on the size and complexity of the
pieces. Inexpensive items are available for small clubs on a tight budget,
and much larger pieces make stunning trophies for bigger, more well-off
clubs. Contact me at madigan@storm.ca
to discuss your club's needs, and specific prices.
The majority of my wood pieces in the past were made locally by a wonderful woodworker, however he unfortunately is no longer in business. As a result I've had to look elsewhere for wooden pieces and other items to paint on, so the availability of some pieces is dependent on whether the store has them in stock, and many of what used to be my 'standard' items are no longer available. To show the work I have done I've kept photos of many of these older items on the Past Work page, and some can also be seen on the Custom Paintings page. In addition to painting on wood, I also do more ‘traditional’ paintings done on canvas, masonite, illustration board, or watercolour paper. |
If you are interested in a piece and have a price range or type of item in mind, please contact me and I'll be happy to come up with some suggestions.
| I also do custom orders featuring a specific dog painted from a photograph. A good quality photograph is a must for me to be able to work from! Custom orders cost more than standard pieces as I work very hard to get the details just right, and prices depend on the number of dogs to be painted. |

In addition to painting, I still like to try different mediums from time to time, and I have dabbled in sculpture, wax carving for gold and silver jewellery, wood carving, soapstone carving, and painting on bisque and greenware with glazes and underglazes which are then kiln fired. These are all things I do simply for my own enjoyment, so at this time I do not generally accept commissions in these areas except in special circumstances, though I do occasionally offer some of these items for sale. Some of the Beardie sculptures are available for purchase on the Other Artwork page, and some of the other works are displayed there as well.
