Back to the Wyndian Catalogue Main Page

This page features several commissioned pieces which were painted from a photo, shown along with the photo I worked from. A number of pieces on my other pages were also custom orders painted from a photo, but I decided to put only pieces on this page where I had a copy of the photo to show as well.

For more traditional fine art commissons (paintings on canvas, paper, or hardboard, done in acrylic, oil, or gouache) please visit the Art Gallery 1 page, which has a number of examples, along with pricing information.

Hal Flour Box "Hal" - Bearded Collie Flour Bin

This was a true custom piece. A friend ordered this as a gift for her husband who was quite a prolific baker and needed a large box to hold a sack of flour! She gave me the measurements she needed the box to be, and I had my woodworker build it. I then painted the scene on top from a photo she provided (see close-up below, with the photo shown in the corner).

"Hope" - Bearded Collie Agility Painting

This painting was ordered as a wedding gift. The piece itself is actually an oak cabinet door I thought would make a wonderful surface to paint, complete with 'frame'! The painting was done from a photo of one of the couple's dogs (shown below close-up of painting).

Golden puppy leash holder with photo Golden Retriever Puppy Leash Holder

This piece was commissioned as a thank you gift for an obedience instructor. The instructor had just gotten a new Golden puppy, and I was asked to paint the pup from this photo, in a summer scene and with his favourite yellow tennis ball.

Garth painting "Garth" - Bearded Collie Framed Painting

This Painting was done on masonite (hardboard), double matted and framed behind glass.

The photo I worked from is shown at left. The photo didn't show the dog's colour accurately, but fortunately I knew the dog (he was grandpa to my first two Beardies) and I had other photos of him from which to capture his brown colouring.

Lowchen box

"Banjo" - Lowchen Square Box

This piece has a definite multi-country international flair! This dog was born in England, exported to Australia as a pup, and then just recently imported to Canada by a friend of mine. My friend asked me to paint a Lowchen piece to send to his former owner in Australia, who was so pleased with it that she commissioned this box to send to the dog's breeders in England!
